Jump to any past chat session — main chat or project — from a single Spotlight-style search modal. Title search is fast and runs by default; flip on Search messages when you need to match on the message body.

Open the search modal

Two ways to open:
  • Click the Search button in the sidebar.
  • Press ⌘K on macOS or Ctrl+K on Linux and Windows.
The shortcut works from anywhere in CTOR except when focus is inside a text input — that keeps Ctrl+K available for kill-to-end-of-line in textareas on Linux and Windows. From the modal’s own input the shortcut closes the modal. Start typing in the input. Results update as you type and show:
  • The session title, with matched terms highlighted.
  • A snippet from the matched message (when Search messages is on).
  • The last update time and message count.
  • A badge — Title match, Message match, or Title + message — explaining where the hit came from.
Sessions without a title render as italic (untitled). The footer has a Search messages toggle:
ModeDefaultWhat it scans
OffYesSession titles only — fast
OnOpt-inTitles and every message body — slower
The toggle is remembered across opens, so once you turn full message search on it stays on until you turn it off.

You can also click a result with the mouse — hovering moves the selection so keyboard and mouse stay in sync.

Opening a result

Selecting a result closes the modal and switches to that session. If the session belongs to a project you don’t currently have open in the sidebar, CTOR reopens the project for you so the session is immediately ready to chat in, not just viewable. Main chat sessions open the same way without any extra step.
